After the long drive from South Bali, we arrived at Villa Beten Bukit in Pemuteran and instantly knew we had found something special. Tucked away down a quiet lane in North West Bali, the villa is surrounded by a magnificent tropical garden and offers views of the mountains and the West Bali National Park.
If you are looking for a peaceful family villa in Pemuteran and want to experience a quieter side of Bali away from the southern crowds, Villa Beten Bukit is a beautiful place to stay.

Villa Beten Bukit Overview
Villa Beten Bukit is a private three-bedroom villa in Pemuteran that is rented as a whole, meaning the entire property is yours for the duration of your stay. With three air-conditioned bedrooms, a stunning private pool and a huge tropical garden, it has everything you need to completely unwind.
It’s ideal for families, groups of friends or couples looking for plenty of space and privacy. Villa Beten Bukit feels less like a hotel and more like having your own beautiful home in Bali, with a wonderful team on hand to look after you throughout your stay.

Villa Beten Bukit Bedrooms and Facilities
The two ground-floor bedrooms open directly onto the terrace with gorgeous views across the gardens. One bedroom has a beautifully romantic canopy king bed, while the second has three single beds, making it great setup for families with kids. Both bedrooms have spacious open-air bathrooms finished with natural stone and terrazzo.

Upstairs, the third bedroom is smaller and doesn’t have its own bathroom. With a double bed and beautiful views over the pool and surrounding mountains, we found it a great option for a teenager.
Also upstairs is a lounge area with a library, board games and a ceiling fan. It’s a lovely quiet spot to read or relax. There is also a TV, although we didn’t use it during our stay, and it was an older style.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare your own meals, though I highly recommend having the villa team cook for you! I’ll talk more about the food below.
Coffee drinkers will also be happy to find a Nespresso machine, although you’ll need to bring your own pods. There is also a filtered chilled-water dispenser, which we found really handy during our stay.
The downstairs area of the villa can be fully enclosed at night, with lockable external doors. During the day, we loved opening everything up and letting the breeze flow through the house.
One thing families travelling with younger children should be aware of is the upstairs living area and staircase. The stairs are quite steep and wouldn’t be ideal for adventurous toddlers who love to climb. If you’re travelling with a toddler, I would check with the villa before booking to see whether a stair gate can be arranged.

The stunning verandah overlooking the pool, gardens and surrounding mountains became one of our favourite places to spend time together. There is a huge dining table as well as several comfortable sitting areas where you can read, relax or even do some yoga. Yoga mats and plenty of books are provided at the villa.

Villa Beten Bukit Pool and Gardens
The chlorine-free saltwater pool is definitely the heart of Villa Beten Bukit. Deckchairs, pool towels, umbrellas and a beautiful Balinese gazebo line the wooden terrace, creating plenty of places to relax while the kids swim.
The sprawling tropical garden is filled with palms, frangipani and lotus ponds, making the entire property feel incredibly peaceful and private.
The pool is also beautifully lit at night, which gives the garden a magical feel after dark. It’s genuinely very hard to leave!

Dining at Villa Beten Bukit
During our stay, breakfast was included each morning and we could choose between eggs, pancakes or nasi goreng. Fresh juice, fruit salad and coffee or tea were also included.
For lunch and dinner, the villa team can prepare delicious meals for a small additional charge. We found both the quality and value excellent. We simply let them know what we would like the day before, and they were fantastic at catering for our family’s needs.
The fully equipped kitchen is also available if you prefer to self-cater, and it was perfect for preparing snacks or finding something to eat later at night.
Putu can also organise grocery delivery to the villa, which makes staying here even easier. They really do think of everything!

The Staff at Villa Beten Bukit
The team at Villa Beten Bukit is what elevates this place from simply beautiful to truly unforgettable.
During our stay, supervisor Putu was warm, efficient and seemed able to organise just about anything we needed, including airport transfers, drivers, dive trips, excursions, in-villa massages, yoga sessions and motorbike hire.
The housekeeping team kept the villa spotless and prepared our meals with so much care. There is also a security guard at the villa each night from 6 pm to 6 am.
Putu, Iluh, Kadek and the whole team went above and beyond to make our family stay wonderful. We were incredibly grateful for the care they showed us throughout our time in Pemuteran.

Getting to Villa Beten Bukit
Pemuteran sits on Bali’s northwest coast, so getting there takes a little longer than travelling between the popular areas of South Bali. I would allow around four to five hours from Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport, depending on traffic and the route your driver takes.
The drive north is incredibly scenic, so I recommend embracing the journey rather than simply trying to get there as quickly as possible.
If you’re travelling with kids, consider breaking up the drive with a stop at Pura Ulun Danu Bratan or Bali Farm House in the Bedugul area. It gives everyone a chance to get out of the car and makes the transfer to Pemuteran part of the adventure.
Another option is to include Pemuteran in a North Bali itinerary. Staying in Ubud first can reduce travel time, while Munduk works particularly well as a stopover before Pemuteran and is only about an hour away by car.

Villa Beten Bukit can arrange airport transfers, and a car with a driver can also be organised during your stay if you want to explore West Bali.
To get around Pemuteran itself, we hired a motorbike through Putu and loved the freedom to explore at our own pace. If you plan to ride in Bali, always wear a helmet and make sure you have the appropriate motorcycle licence and international driving permit.

Things to Do Near Villa Beten Bukit
The quiet road leading to Villa Beten Bukit doesn’t have a huge range of restaurants or shops, but we loved Pemuteran Coffee & Bread. The coffee was good and the food was excellent value. You can also buy loaves of bread to take back to the villa, and they had gluten-free options available when we visited.

Once you reach the main road through Pemuteran, you’ll find a much wider range of restaurants, mini marts, ATMs and shops.
The closest mini mart we found was Astimart, near the turn-off to Jl Arjuna, which leads towards the villa. A short walk further along is Bhogaloka Supermarket, which had an excellent range of groceries as well as fresh produce.

Next to Bhogaloka is a Mandiri ATM, which we used without any problems to withdraw cash. We also enjoyed brunch at The Sage Bali, located a short walk further along the main road.

Sunrise Dolphin Tour in Pemuteran
One of our favourite things to do in Pemuteran was a sunrise dolphin tour with Blue Dolph Pemuteran.
It was an early start, meeting at the beach at 6 am, around a five-minute drive from Villa Beten Bukit, but it was absolutely worth getting out of bed for.
We spent a magical few hours on the water watching the sunrise and seeing wild dolphins swimming and playing near our boat. What we particularly loved about our experience was that our boat didn’t chase the dolphins. Instead, we waited patiently and enjoyed watching them when they chose to come near us.

Snorkelling and Diving in Pemuteran
Pemuteran is well known for its incredible diving and snorkelling, and one of its most fascinating attractions is the Pemuteran Biorock coral restoration project.
Located just offshore near Taman Sari Resort, the Biorock structures form one of the world’s largest coral reef restoration projects. They are easily accessible from the beach, making this a great place to snorkel without needing to organise a full-day boat trip.
The shallow reef is home to colourful reef fish, hard and soft corals and other marine life, making it a fantastic option for families who enjoy snorkelling.
Certified divers can also explore several offshore dive sites around Pemuteran Bay, including Napoleon Reef and Temple Garden, with local dive operators who can recommend the best sites based on experience and conditions.

Menjangan Island
Unfortunately, we ran out of time to snorkel or dive at Menjangan Island, which gives us a very good reason to return!
A short drive west from Pemuteran brings you to the departure area for boats travelling to Menjangan Island, part of West Bali National Park.
There are several PADI-accredited dive operators in Pemuteran that can organise snorkelling and diving trips to Menjangan Island. If you’re staying at Villa Beten Bukit, I would ask Putu which operator he currently recommends.

Sumberkima Hill
Sumberkima Hill is around a 20-minute drive from Villa Beten Bukit and is another lovely place to visit while staying in Pemuteran.
We enjoyed eating at Suma Restaurant, which serves delicious meals and drinks with beautiful views across the surrounding landscape and sea.
The Spa & Wellness Centre is also worth visiting for massages and treatments, and Sumberkima Hill offers a range of wellness, fitness and other activities that outside guests can enquire about during their stay.
