The Sea Shanty Villa in Jimbaran is a lovely Bali family villa with massive space, including a kid’s bunk room. The Sea Shanty is located in Jimbaran, a short distance from the Denpasar Bali airport.

There is so much space at The Sea Shanty Villa, featuring four huge bedrooms with ensuites, two lounge rooms, a full kitchen and a stunning pool/garden area. The pool is perfect for kids of all ages and includes a bale to relax in, a pool fence that can be erected and a shallow area for the toddlers to splash in. Perhaps the best thing about the Sea Shanty Villa is the live-in help that Lina and Supri provided. They cook the most delicious meals, make sure the villa is cleaned daily and can help with anything your family needs. The Sea Shanty Villa is our favourite villa in Jimbaran.

Pool and Gardens

The room and space for the kids to run around at the Sea Shanty Villa Jimbaran is fantastic. The villa team can set up the on-site pool fence to give peace of mind to younger kids running around. The pool is excellent, and the kid’s shallow section is fantastic for toddlers to splash. The bale overlooking the pool was a great spot to relax with a coffee in the morning. There was also an outside toilet, meaning the kids could still go to the bathroom without dragging wet swimmers through the villa.

Bedrooms

The villa features 4 huge bedrooms each bedroom with an ensuite. The beds are very comfortable and the air conditioning works well in each room.

Upstairs bedrooms

There are two bedrooms upstairs; one bedroom features the master suite, and the other features the kid’s room with bunk beds. The master suite has a balcony, desk, air conditioning, ensuite with toilet, huge robes with a safe, two basins and an outdoor shower.

The kid’s bunk room is fantastic and overlooks the gardens and pool. The bedroom has a chalkboard, four king single beds, air conditioning, ensuite with toilet, basin, robes, outdoor shower and bath. The sliding windows can be locked to ensure toddler’s safety in the bedroom.

Downstairs bedrooms

The bedrooms downstairs are also fantastic with so much space, and both have AC. The best part of the downstairs bedrooms was with a stair gate in place and the villa was enclosed at night, it was secure for younger kids.

The bedroom closest to the entrance has a bigger ensuite with an outdoor shower and bath.

The other bedroom has a smaller bathroom with just an outdoor shower, but it is the only one in the villa with a TV. As the downstairs lounge room didn’t have a TV, this was the room that the kids sometimes chilled out in and watched a movie.

Lounge Rooms and Kitchen

The open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge room are well suited to travelling with kids. The huge dining table was a great way to start the morning with breakfast cooked by Lina, the amazing live-in chef. The kitchen features two fridges, and the one on the left has a filtered water dispenser and ice machine.

We loved having a full kitchen with all the essentials when travelling with kids. The plastic plates and cups for the kids were a bonus! The couch was super comfy, and the villa could be completely enclosed to keep the bugs out. There is no air conditioning in the lounge area, but the fans were more than adequate to keep us cool. International power points were located throughout the villa.

The upstairs lounge is between the two bedrooms and has a ceiling fan to keep the area cool. There is a TV, activities and books for the kids to enjoy.

The rest of the villa

The spaces throughout the villa are so kid-friendly. The entrance doors could be secured at night and there is plenty of parking. The stairs were safe for the kids, and during our 2017 stay, we had a stair gate at the bottom of the stairs. This was a small extra cost from Bali Baby Hire but was all organised for us by Donna, the villa’s manager.

It is easily within walking distance of the beach and local cafes, and everyone was highly impressed by the location of the Sea Shanty Villa.

Sea Shanty Villa Staff

The staff at the Sea Shanty Villa make every stay wonderful, which is why it’s one of the best villas in Bali with a private pool. Lina’s cooking skills are exceptional; the kids loved her pancakes, and we adults loved the beef rendang!

Most nights, she would cook the kids food for dinner as they were tired and needed to get ready for bed. Our nannies would help the kids have dinner while the adults would go out and enjoy a child-free dinner with drinks. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff; they always made us feel right at home. Donna, the villa manager, was easy to chat to before our stay and simplified the booking process.

Things to do in Jimbaran Bali

Here is a short list of things to do in Jimbaran:

• Dinner at Cuca Restaurant. We have dined at Cuca many times over the years and this restaurant is a fantastic choice for a special occasion. Kids are welcome too.
• Dinner at La Brassiere Melting Wok. This was a short walk from the Sea Shanty villa and had such delicious, great-value food. Highly recommended.
• In-villa massage organised by the villa, amazing value at $20aud for a one-hour massage.
• Drinks at Sundara. Great spot to enjoy a swim, delicious food and cocktails on the beach.
• A walk up the hill to the cafes and things to do next to Movenpick Jimbaran Resort. The kids were quick to find TimeZone!
• Walk along Jimbaran Beach and try some corn from one of the local sellers at sunset. A great spot to sit back and relax while the sun sets. I also loved my morning runs along the beach and watching the fishermen start their days.

We have loved our stays at The Sea Shanty Jimbaran and highly recommend it to families travelling to Bali. Jimbaran is full of things to do and is a great central location to places like Waterbom Waterpark, Sundays Beach Club and watersports at Nusa Dua.
