Movenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran is one of the best family resorts in Bali, located just 20 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport. From the back gate of the resort, it’s only a 2-minute walk to Jimbaran Beach. A calm, family-friendly beach that’s perfect for swimming and surfing with kids and catching Bali’s famous sunsets.

Movenpick is a large, modern resort with most rooms overlooking the stunning lagoon-style pool area, making it a favourite for families who love to swim and relax. One of our favourite things about the Movenpick Jimbaran is the gorgeous resort dogs. Yes, that’s right, the Movenpick has resort dogs that take their walks throughout the grounds, and you can say hello and pat them.
Right next door, you will find the Samasta Lifestyle Village, with a variety of shops, cafes, and restaurants, adding even more convenience to your family holiday in Jimbaran. Free nightly entertainment, including live music and cultural performances, is ideal for families seeking an enjoyable evening activity.

Movenpick Jimbaran Pool Area
The pool area at Mövenpick Jimbaran is huge and our family absolutely loves it! Private gazebos are available for booking, but be sure to secure one early, as they tend to fill up quickly. The resort has something for everyone, including a kids’ splash water park, a central pool bar, a pool for water aerobics, waterslides, and ample space to swim and relax. Our kids especially love the slides, and it’s so easy for parents to sit back and watch them have fun. The inflatable water activity is perfect for both kids and adults, giving everyone an extra splash of excitement. Additionally, the underwater toys for hire are a lot of fun.
Tip: Make sure to contact Movenpick Jimbaran’s reservations team to book a gazebo for your first full day at the resort; they fill up fast!

Rooms at Movenpick Resort Jimbaran
All of the rooms at the Movenpick Resort Jimbaran are great sizes with modern amenities. For us, the pool view rooms are a must; the view is stunning. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a Junior Suite for our stay in June 2022, and the huge bed was more than big enough for the two kids and me.
Family Prestige Room (2 Connecting Rooms)
The Family Prestige Room is ideal for larger families, featuring two guaranteed connecting rooms that provide everyone with their own space. Parents can enjoy a spacious king room, while the kids get their own twin room decorated in a fun, kid-friendly style. With two bathrooms and plenty of space, it’s a comfortable and practical option for families. During our stay in 2025, we stayed in connecting rooms 1106 and 1102, which were conveniently located near the gym, kids’ club, and Anasara Restaurant.
Tip: To book these rooms, contact the Movenpick Reservation Team. You can email them at resort.bali.reservations@movenpick.com
More info: Movenpick Jimbaran has standard connecting rooms that can be booked. Keep an eye out on their website, as they often offer 50% off the second room. If you don’t see the deal online, contact the reservations team directly to ask.

Junior Suite
We stayed in the Junior Suite (room 2240) in June 2022, and it worked perfectly for us. The bed was huge and easily fit the two kids and me, and the room had plenty of space to spread out. Please note that Junior Suites are officially limited to three guests, so larger families will need to consider alternative room types.

Family Duplex Rooms
These rooms are located on two floors and accommodate two adults and two children. Upstairs, there’s a double sofa bed that comfortably fits two kids, while parents have their own space downstairs. For peace of mind, a stair gate is available at the top of the stairs, the railing is sturdy, and the balustrade on the second floor is extra high, making it a safe option for families with younger children.

Restaurants at Movenpick Resort Jimbaran
The food at Movenpick Jimbaran was a real highlight of our stay. The buffet breakfast is fantastic, offering a huge variety to suit all tastes, from tropical fruits and pastries to freshly cooked hot dishes. And of course, the daily Chocolate Hour is a big hit with both kids and adults! The resort also features several on-site restaurants, offering a range of dining options from casual bites by the pool to more elegant evening meals. Plus, with the Samasta Lifestyle Village right next door, you’ve got even more family-friendly cafés and restaurants just a short stroll away, making mealtimes easy and fun.
Details of the different restaurants available at The Movenpick Jimbaran
Anarasa Restaurant
Anarasa is the Movenpick Resort’s main restaurant, conveniently located right next to the Kids Club and pools. Breakfast kicks off here from 7 am each morning, and the restaurant stays open until 10 pm, making it an easy option for family meals throughout the day. We especially love the kids’ dining zone, a fun, relaxed spot where the little ones could enjoy their food and watch Bluey on the TV while the adults had a chance to sit back and enjoy a drink. The pizza from the Wood Fired Ovens was delicious, and the sushi was a hit with the kids.
New in October 2026: Chocolate Hour is now held at Anarasa Restaurant daily at 4 pm!

JeLaLa Tropical Pool Bar
If you’re relaxing by the beautiful pool at The Movenpick Jimbaran Resort and don’t feel like moving, JeLaLa Pool Bar has you covered. Open daily from 11 am to 7 pm, it serves up tasty food and refreshing drinks right to your lounger. The menu has plenty of options, and the cocktails are a real highlight, especially during happy hour from 4 pm to 6 pm. It’s the perfect spot to cool off, grab a bite, and enjoy a drink by the pool. If you are an Accor ALL Member, the discount applies to happy hour too!
Here’s the current menu to check out.

Chocolate Hour
Every afternoon from 4 pm to 5 pm, guests can enjoy Mövenpick’s famous Chocolate Hour. It is now held in the Anarasa Restaurant.
It’s completely free for guests and always a highlight of the day, with a tempting selection of chocolatey treats to sample. Drinks aren’t included, but you can order a coffee or tea to go with your sweets if you’d like. It’s a fun (and tasty!) tradition that both kids and adults will love.

Adriana Cocina and Bar
Adriana Cocina & Bar is Movenpick Jimbaran’s stylish rooftop venue, combining fresh Mexican flavours with some of the best sunset views in Jimbaran. The menu blends traditional Mexican dishes with a local twist, and there’s a great selection of drinks to enjoy as the sun sets. With its relaxed atmosphere and open-air setting, it’s a fantastic spot for a romantic evening, a special family dinner, or simply cocktails and nibbles while taking in the view.

Movenpick Bali Kids Club
The Meera Kids Club at Movenpick Jimbaran is designed for children aged 4 to 12 years, though little ones under four are also welcome with a parent or nanny. Open daily from 9 am to 6 pm, the club offers a wide range of fun activities to keep kids entertained. The first four hours are complimentary for guests, and after that, the rate is approximately $6.50 AUD per hour, per child. Our kids loved the pirate-themed play areas, and we found the direct access to the pool super convenient for families.

Movenpick Resort Bali Spa
Arkipela Spa is a luxurious space at Movenpick Jimbaran, perfect for parents looking to unwind and recharge. Open daily from 9 am to 9 pm, it offers a wide range of treatments in a serene setting, though the prices do reflect the high-end experience. It’s a fantastic treat for any tired mum or dad after a busy day of family fun.

Movenpick Bali Activities
Movenpick Jimbaran features a modern gym with everything you need to maintain your fitness routine while on holiday. The resort also runs a daily activity schedule, which often includes yoga, aqua aerobics, cultural classes, and family-friendly options, so there’s always something to join in on if you’re keen to stay active or try something new. The water scooters for hire at the pool are a lot of fun!
Fitness Centre
The gym is conveniently located right next to the kids’ club and comes with a good range of equipment for a holiday workout. If you’d rather be outdoors, you can rent a bike from 9 am to 6 pm and explore the streets of Jimbaran at your own pace.

Daily Activities
Movenpick Jimbaran offers a range of activities to keep everyone busy. Kids can enjoy feeding the rabbits, join a bee house visit, or try their hand at traditional lontar writing. For water-based fun, water scooters are available to rent, with prices at 160,000 IDR per half hour for the small scooter and 400,000 IDR per half hour for the large one. Most activities can be booked through the kids’ club or the pool towel desk, making it easy to plan them into your day.

Nearby to Movenpick Jimbaran Resort
I often get asked what’s nearby when staying at Movenpick Bali. While Jimbaran doesn’t have the same busy strip of shops and restaurants you’ll find in Legian or Seminyak, it still has plenty to offer families. Right next door is the Samasta Lifestyle Village, an upmarket complex with restaurants, cafés, gift and clothing shops, ice cream outlets, and even a Timezone for the kids. It’s super convenient for dining or a bit of shopping, but keep in mind prices are higher here compared to the more budget-friendly spots you might find elsewhere in Bali.
In the evenings, Samasta often hosts free performances such as traditional Balinese dance or live music, which are a great way to enjoy the local culture without leaving the resort area. Visit the Samasta Lifestyle Village website for the most up-to-date times.

The short walk from Movenpick Resort back gate to Jimbaran Beach is well worth it, especially for the huge range of seafood restaurants lining the sand, perfect for a sunset dinner with the family. If you’re in the mood to splurge, head to Sundara Restaurant and Beach Club, where you’ll find a delicious Sunday Brunch, a fantastic kids’ menu, and even access to their on-site Kids Club for day pass guests. It’s a great option if you’re looking for a special family meal in a stunning beachfront setting.

Surfing is fun and safe on Jimbaran Beach. There is an excellent range of surfing schools available to help the kids learn to surf. We chose JBR Surf School, and the price was 300,000 IDR (approx. $30AUD) one on one instruction plus surfboard for 1 hour.

If you’re looking to eat away from the beach, Jimbaran has some fantastic restaurants that are still close to Mövenpick. A few of our favourites include Cuca Restaurant, La Brasserie by Melting Wok and Kayumanis Resto Jimbaran.
We’ve celebrated birthdays at Cuca over the years, and they’ve always been so welcoming of kids, which makes it an excellent choice for families. On our list to try next time is Opia, which comes highly recommended for both the food and the views.

Located close to Movenpick, you’ll find a range of handy services for families, including affordable day spas, money changers, laundries, pharmacies (apoteks), and small convenience stores. Most of these are located along Uluwatu Street, making them easily accessible on foot or by a short taxi ride. One of our favourite cafes is Sandpiper Cafe. You will find great coffee (Milk Lab milk) and upstairs they show sporting events like AFL, Rugby, F1 and many more.

For something more local, check out the Kedonganan Fish Market and the fresh food market, both on Uluwatu Street. If you’re after a more modern shopping experience, Sidewalk Jimbaran is just a short drive away and features a cinema, supermarket, and a mix of specialty stores.

Overall, Movenpick Jimbaran is a fantastic choice for families looking for a relaxed Bali getaway with plenty to do on-site. From the spacious rooms and family-friendly facilities to daily activities, the kids’ club, and easy access to Jimbaran Beach, the resort makes it simple to balance downtime with fun. Whether you’re after cultural experiences, fitness, or just poolside relaxation, there’s something for everyone, making Movenpick Jimbaran a resort we are always happy to recommend.

Hi Kate! Loving your reviews! We’re planning to go at the end of Feb with our 4y/o, and my mum/his grandma! Is there a supermarket near by the Movenpick to purchase water? Do I need to purchase water?? Thanks in advance!
Hi Aileen, thanks for the love! I really appreciate it 🙂 The hotel will provide a couple of free bottles of water each day but I recommend going to a quick mart to purchase large bottles of Aqua. They are very cheap and it is best to not drink the tap water. From the lobby if you walk through Samasta Lifestyle village and then follow the street around to the left you will find quick marts 🙂 It is also worthwhile to order a blue bird taxi to take you to Sidewalk Jimbaran to stock up on supplies, they will have a bigger range than the quick marts and is only a 4 minute drive away.
Hi, would you recommend a week at Movenpick as a good amount of time with one restless husband and too young kids? Or would that feel too long/short? Am deciding whether to stay a week or for a bit longer (10 days).. or whether to split our holiday between two places. Thanks, Sarah
Hi Sarah, I feel 5 to 6 nights at Movenpick would be a great amount. If you have 10 days I would do 5 days Movenpick and 5 days elsewhere. Sanur is great with young kids or you could stay up in Ubud too. Thanks Kate
Thanks so much Kate!
Your review is great with so much useful information for someone like me who likes to know all the information beforehand! It’s made us even more excited to visit Movenpick in October. We were supposed to go in June 2020 so it’s been a long wait. Question about the ice cream. Is it served at breakfast etc? We have booked a deal with Luxury Escapes so get daily breakfast and lunch but my husband and son are ice cream fiends.
I must say I didn’t look or notice Ice Cream for breakfast 😉
Congratulations on the excellent facilities and services. The staff could not have been more helpful, informative and nothing was a problem. Excellent location for relaxing by the pool, heading to the surf or going out for dinner. Yes, it is away from the tourists but exactly what a traveler, who has been to Bali many times before needs. We arrived in Bali as a couple and left with the feeling that we had encountered good people. Well done Accor, one of your best resorts.
Hi there, do you know if Movenpick accepts day visitors to the restaurant/pool area and kids club? We have friends staying there and we would love to visit one day. Thanks.
I would email them to check 🙂 They have recommenced the Sunday Brunch that allows pool access so it may be allowed. Thanks Kate
Thanks for this review! Can I ask about any concerns with water in terms of showering etc? We have x2 very young kids and this is my biggest worry about going to Bali.
Hi, we have never had troubles with showering or bathing the kids. We have been travelling to Bali since the kids were 18 months old multiple times and they have never been sick. It doesn’t mean it won’t happen but kids can get sick anywhere and probably the highest risk place is daycare in Australia! So many gastro cases 😉 Just try to avoid them drinking cupfuls of bath or shower water.
