If your kids love animals, Bali Farm House is an easy addition to a Bali family itinerary. We visited during our time in North Bali and had so much fun meeting the alpacas, donkeys, ponies, guinea pigs and plenty of other animals along the way. Add in a huge playground, a little train, good food and the chance to actually have brunch with alpacas, and there is plenty here to keep the whole family entertained.

Disclosure: Our visit to Bali Farm House, including our Brunch with Alpacas experience, was hosted, so we did not pay for our visit. As always, everything in this review is based on our own experience.

Where is Bali Farm House?

Bali Farm House is located in North Bali, between Bedugul and the Munduk/Wanagiri area. Bali Farm House is on the main road heading north, making it easy to include in a North Bali road trip.

Although you will often see it referred to as being in Munduk, it’s technically in Pancasari. If you are staying around Munduk, Wanagiri or Bedugul, it’s an easy attraction to visit.

One thing you’ll notice straight away is the temperature change. This part of Bali is much cooler than the coast, so throwing a light jumper or rain jacket in the car is never a bad idea.

Getting to Bali Farm House

The drive from South Bali takes about 1.5 to 2.5 hrs. If you are staying in Ubud, you can get to the farm in 1 to 2hrs. For families, the easiest way to visit is with a private Bali driver. A driver also lets you decide how much (or how little) you want to squeeze into the day. And I definitely don’t think Bali Farm House needs to be tacked onto a huge North Bali sightseeing day.

For families with younger kids, I think Bali Farm House can easily be the main activity for a day trip from South Bali. Drive up, spend a few hours at the farm, have lunch, let the kids play and then slowly make your way home. Check out our suggestions later in this blog post for things to do in North Bali near Bali Farm House.

Kate’s Tip: There will soon be accommodation available on-site at Bali Farm House. Sanctoo Hills will open shortly; watch this space!

Visiting Bali Farm House

Bali Farm House is open daily (except for Nyepi) from 9 am to 5 pm. You can find admission prices on the Bali Farm House website, and admission tickets include access to the outdoor playground and a food credit.

Once inside, there is plenty to wander around and see. The alpacas are probably the stars of the show, but we also loved the donkeys, ponies, guinea pigs and the gorgeous dogs. For an additional charge, you can get closer to and feed some of the animals. Staff are around the different animal areas to help with the encounters and show kids how to interact with them. The animals are well cared for, and plenty of hand-washing stations are dotted around the farm.

Food at Bali Farm House

We ate at The Barn Restaurant during our visit and really liked the food. The restaurant can get busy though, particularly around lunchtime. If the kids are getting restless or you don’t want to wait for a table, don’t forget you can order takeaway and find a nice patch of grass around the farm to sit and enjoy it. Honestly, with kids, sometimes that option is even better!

The Farm Pantry also offers coffee, ice cream, cakes, and popcorn if you want something quick between visiting the animals and the playground.

Playground at Bali Farm House

Don’t promise the kids you’re only stopping to look at animals because the playground may ruin that plan. Bali Farm House has a huge outdoor playground with climbing structures, slides, bridges and plenty of room for kids to burn off some energy. Playground entry is included in general admission.

I really liked having the playground as part of the experience. It means kids aren’t simply moving from animal enclosure to animal enclosure and makes it much easier to spend a few hours here. It’s also another reason I think Bali Farm House works well as a standalone family day trip rather than needing to cram lots of other attractions into the same day.

The Bali Farm House Train

There is also a cute little train travelling around Bali Farm House playground. The Alpaca Express is particularly fun for younger kids and gives little legs a break after wandering around the farm. It is an additional paid activity, not included in general admission.

When we visited in 2026, the train cost 65,000IDR for 2 round rides. Kids under 2 are free but must be accompanied by an adult.

Brunch with Alpacas

This was definitely one of the highlights of our visit. Yes, you really can sit down and have brunch surrounded by alpacas and it is every bit as much fun as it sounds.

You have plenty of time to sit back and enjoy the food and drinks, rather than feeling like you need to rush through the experience. Then you get to feed and interact with the alpacas. And they are cheeky. Very cute. Very fluffy. But very aware that there is food on the table!

The Bali Farm House staff stay close by throughout the experience and make sure the alpacas don’t get too cheeky, so you can enjoy feeding them without losing your entire brunch to an opportunistic alpaca. We had so much fun doing this. It’s interactive, funny and completely different from a normal Bali brunch, which makes it a really memorable experience for kids.

Sessions run up to 1.5 hrs and are from 10 am to 11:30 am and 11:30 am to 1 pm. Because numbers are limited, I’d organise this experience before you arrive rather than hoping there is availability on the day.

Activities at Bali Farm House

Brunch with Alpacas isn’t the only extra experience available. Other experiences include Picnic at the Farm, Picnic with Donkeys, Pony Rides and Farm Photo Sessions.

There are also separate animal feeding encounters once you are inside the farm. I don’t think you need to book everything. General admission, some animal interaction, the playground and lunch can already fill a few hours quite easily. Pick an extra experience that suits your kids rather than trying to do them all.

Things to Do Near Bali Farm House

If you want to make more of your day or, better still, stay in North Bali for a few nights, there is plenty to do around here.

Lake Beratan and Ulun Danu Beratan

One of the easiest additions for families, especially if you don’t want to spend the day trekking. Ulun Danu Beratan is the famous temple beside Lake Beratan and is an easy stop when travelling through Bedugul.

Ulun Danu BeratanTemple

The Blooms Garden

The Blooms in Bedugul has large landscaped gardens, lots of photo spots, and activities around the grounds. It’s another option if you want something easy rather than a strenuous waterfall walk. They also offer on-site accommodation at The Blooms Villas.

Banyumala Waterfall

If your kids are older and happy to tackle some stairs, Banyumala Waterfall is another option. We visited while staying at Alta Vista and loved it. There is still a decent walk and plenty of steps, but it was manageable for us and the waterfall itself is beautiful. The waterfall is in Wanagiri, so it fits naturally into a day exploring this area.

Banyumala Twin Waterfalls

Bilik Kopi

One of my favourite little North Bali stops is Bilik Kopi. Dedi makes coffee from his little setup on the back of a motorbike overlooking the Twin Lakes. It’s simple, local and exactly the type of stop we love finding when travelling around Bali.

NOORD Cafe

NOORD Cafe is another option around Wanagiri if you want somewhere to stop for coffee or food while exploring the area. Great views and yummy food plus a playground downstairs.

Stuja Di Danau

If you’re coming through Bedugul, Stuja Di Danau is right beside Lake Beratan and makes a lovely coffee, breakfast or lunch stop with views over the lake.

Junglegold Chocolate Factory

And don’t forget Junglegold on the drive to or from North Bali. It can be a quick toilet-and-coffee stop, or you can turn it into an activity and spend more time learning how they make their chocolate. Their self-guided factory experience is currently free, while paid guided experiences are also available.

Where to Stay Near Bali Farm House

You don’t have to visit North Bali as a day trip. Staying for a few nights gives you much more time to explore without spending hours in the car each day.

Alta Vista Mountain Villa

We stayed at Alta Vista Mountain Villa, and it’s a great option for families or groups. It features 5 villas overlooking North Bali, with a heated pool, jacuzzi, and plenty of room. We loved the cooler weather and spectacular sunsets from the Treehouse. It’s also well positioned for Bali Farm House, the Twin Lakes and Banyumala Waterfall.

Munduk Moding Plantation

Munduk Moding Plantation is another beautiful option if you want a resort-style stay. Set within a working coffee plantation, it offers accommodation ranging from suites to multi-bedroom pool villas, making it an option for couples and families. The resort is about 10 minutes from Lake Tamblingan and offers plenty of on-property experiences.

Sanctoo Hills at Bali Farm House

And this is one to watch. Sanctoo Hills is being developed within the Bali Farm House property, so you’ll eventually be able to stay right here. It’s part of the same Sanctoo family as Sanctoo Suites & Villas beside Bali Zoo, which we have also stayed at.

Check out our review of Sanctoo Suites & Villas here

Sanctoo Hills is inspired by Tuscan design and is being developed as a luxury highland resort. The resort will feature gorgeous rooms, a restaurant, a spa and recreation facilities. I am very interested in seeing this one finished because staying alongside Bali Farm House would make it an even easier base for families exploring Bedugul, Wanagiri, and Munduk.

Is Bali Farm House Worth Visiting with Kids?

Bali Farm House is absolutely worth considering with kids, especially if you have animal lovers. And I wouldn’t feel like you need to turn the day into one of those huge North Bali itineraries where you are out from sunrise until bedtime trying to tick off four waterfalls, three temples and a swing. Bali Farm House can easily be the main event.

Pregnant pony at Bali Farm House

Drive up, stop at Junglegold for a coffee and hot chocolate, spend a few hours meeting the animals, have lunch, play at the playground and perhaps stop at Lake Beratan on the way home. That’s a pretty great Bali day with younger kids.

With older kids and teens, you can make the day a little more adventurous by adding The Blooms Garden or Banyumala Waterfall, or you can stay a few nights and slow everything down. That’s probably what I like most about Bali Farm House. You can make it as simple or as busy as your family wants.
